11 months to go!

Well time here seems to be going really slowly and yes I have begun the countdown till i return to the nice hot weather in Australia. Since I last wrote a post, a few interesting things have happened over here in Finland. Firstly, I was a model at trade school the other day where I had my face transformed into an old lady and Annu was transformed into a witch. We both looked interesting to say the least.

I also went to my first local ice hockey game on Thursday. Not a very good move since I had to get up at 5:30 the next morning to go to Helsinki and we the sauna was on ready for us when we got home from the game so of course I had to have one before bed. I think all the ice hockey players were wondering who the crazy person taking photos of them was since one turned around and said 'What the F***' as I was about to take a photo. I avoided him the rest of the game. And yes, our local team did end up winning 7-4.

At 5:40 Friday morning Annu, Terhi(my host mum) and myself rushed out of the house to get ot the bus stop to catch a bus to Helsinki where we due to spend Friday night. As you can tell in the next picture, I was woken 10 minutes before we were due to leave the house and I had no time to straighten my hair and had to do my makeup on the bus on the way down. It was all forgiven though when we went out to the a resturant in Helsinki called the Apple Tree where I had one of the best lunches since my arrival and where I managed to try a Pineapple Berry. One of the most disgusting things I have tried since my arrival to this weird and wonderful country. I also managed to get in quite a bit of shopping, where I promise mum and dad I didnt spend to much money.

Friday night Annu and me stayed the night at her cousins house Milja. Milja happily showed us a couple of clubs in Helsinki, one being an Aussie Bar. I have never been so happy to hear another Aussie's voice before. This was the most stereotypical Aussie bar I think I have ever been in.

Saturday morning Annu and me had a few hours to waste before going to meet Terhi so we decided to go pay a visit to the Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Art Centre.
